🐾 About Us

“I was getting ready to start a new job and needed a person where I knew my dog would be taken care of.  I googled dog walkers and Laura’s Critter Care, LLC came up and I called.  Laura responded very quickly.  I explained what I needed and we set up an appointment.  I immediately felt comfortable with Laura and my dog liked her too.  I set Laura up to come to my house once a day to feed her as needed, give her meds as needed and to walk her.  She was always on time and did an amazing job.  She even sent pictures and text messages which I appreciated very much.  I could not go to work every day without Laura’s services.  She is wonderful!” ~Laura Francese, Professional Archer and Bow Hunter, spokesmodel for Strother Archery,  Retired NFL Buffalo Bills Cheerleader, Star of ESPN2’s mini series Redfield RedZone and previous CW23 Star on Winging It! Hi I’m Laura Stauffiger! I own and operate Laura’s Critter Care, LLC in Amherst, New York. Thank you for visiting my site. I understand that your home and pets are your most valuable possessions. I am a dedicated animal lover, life-long pet owner and an experienced animal care provider. I started sitting for pets while in High School and College to earn extra money.

I spent 20 years in the corporate world as a Regional Manager and Executive Recruiter in the employment services industry. I oversaw sales and operations for up to 6 different locations, managing anywhere from 10-50 internal employees as well as upwards of 400-1,000 temporary employees at any given time. I also recruited and placed executives within some of the countries top companies. I decided to follow my dreams and work with animals. So I retired from the corporate world and started Laura’s Critter Care, LLC.

I care for all types of pets, not just dogs and cats. Some of my clients have included goats, birds, salt water and fresh fish, ferrets, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, rabbits, reptiles, other small animals, and poultry. No matter what type of pet you have, I can sit for you!

My husband and I reside in Snyder and also share our home with 2 cats, 4 dogs (3 pugs and a pug/boxer mix), 1 Bearded Dragon, a Dumeril Snake, 4 Gold Fish, 1 Betta Fish, 2 Lineolated Parakeets  and an African Grey Parrot. We have previously owned other breeds of birds, fish, rodents, a Burmese snake and a boa snake. Most of our pets have been rescued.

I am a member of Pet Sitters International and National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. PSI and NAPPS both provide valuable resources for the professional pet sitter, as well as continuing education opportunities. I am also college educated and have attended classes on dog training, pet care and animal health through Medaille College and UB’s Mini Vet School and I am PetSaver certified through PetTech.

In August 2010 I was asked by Channel 2 news to be one of their Community Content Providers for their pet sections of several towns in Erie County.

I have been the personal pet sitter and dog walker for clients such as Jerry Hughes, Defensive End of the Buffalo Bills, Brandon Spikes, former Linebacker of the Buffalo Bills, EJ Manuel, former Quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, Christian Gaddis, former Center of the Buffalo Bills, Adam Benigni, Sports Director/Anchor for @WGRZ (NBC) Buffalo, and Maria Genero, Meteorologist for Daybreak and is co-host of The Healthy Zone on Channel 2 @ WGRZ (NBC) Buffalo.

“Experience was ABOVE AND BEYOND what we expected ! Marissa was a superhero in our house and even shoveled the walk one day after it snowed as we were out of town and our snowplow driver only plows out the driveway. She even sent us daily photos of her playing with and feeding my daughter’s cat Mila.  She was AMAZING !  Because it was our first time leaving the cat home alone we were worried that she would not come out when someone entered our house (she loves to hide) but Marissa made sure to coax her out every day when she came to feed her. We loved the fact that she sent text confirmations along with daily photos of Mila so we were certain that she was OK.” ~Angela Cooke

I know when Deb comes, my boys will be safe, happy and given loving in my absence. I know when I come home from work, the dog will be well exercised, comfortable since he was able to relieve himself. I know the litter box will be clean and the cat’s food dish will be full.  Deb is awesome. …I have complete faith in her and trust the fact that she really likes my boys. (Even the cat)  I also thoroughly enjoy that there are events held by Laura where all clients are invited to meet each other and pets can interact. Plus there is the opportunity to meet other dog walkers in case they need to fill in. ~Kay Scibetta, ‎RN at Buffalo ENT Specialists

Vizine, DebDeb Vizine ,  A.M./P.M. Sitter and Mid Day Dog Walker

Deb worked as the Grants Manager of the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council for 37 years. She retired in 2010 and decided that with her love of animals she wanted to do something with her retirement working with pets. She has never wanted to kennel her pets and as Laura’s Critter Care, LLC does only  home care she decided she would also love to work with Laura and help to care for people’s pets and love them as her own.

Deb currently owns 5 pugs. She is involved in pet rescue with the Green Mountain Pug Rescue transporting pugs in need to the rescue. She attends their Pug Social fund raiser each year in Vermont. She and her husband have also watched dogs in their home for friends and people they have met throughout the years with the Buffalo Pug meetup group where she was the Organizer for several years.

Deb has taken courses to learn more about animal health and care having completed the American Red Cross Dog and First Aid Course in 2008 the Mini Vet course offered at SUNYAB in 2010.

Other pets Deb has owned have been a Goffin Cockatoo and a Nanday Conure. She is very familiar with the care and maintenance of birds and she has also owned a cat. “Absolutely love knowing our animals get a midday break and loving from Marilyn. Had no reservations with Marilyn having our key – I thought initially giving my house key to a stranger might bother me, but it hasn’t at all. Marilyn made me comfortable right from the first meeting.  I don’t need to worry about my animals – whether I am at work or on vacation.” ~Marlene Emler MacLean, Histopathology Technician @ Buffalo VA Medical Center

Marilyn Wetter , A.M./P.M. Sitter and Mid Day Dog Walker

Marilyn’s love for all animals will show when she takes care of your pet(s)!

Her passion for animals goes back to her childhood when she got her mom to fall in love with a kitten and it became her first pet.  She wrote an essay about how her three sisters never were allowed a pet but how she changed her mom’s heart – that essay won her cat, Cuddles, a Regional title and a story with photo in the Buffalo News.

Her pet family expanded with turtles (Salt & Pepper) two more cats, (Muffin and Pumpkin), and a lop-eared bunny named Cottontail.  Marilyn adopted her first dog, a Pomeranian, Buffy from the SPCA and her second Pom, Destiny, she rescued from an abusive home.  Destiny was pampered even more after being diagnosed with severe heart problems and Marilyn took her walks in a roomy pet stroller which held her toys, bed and water dish.  Destiny passed in 6/2014.  Marilyn and her family know that a house is not a home without the unconditional love of a pet and she got her first Pom puppy, Kody Bear, Labor Day 2014.  In June 2016 she couldn’t resist rescuing another Pom, Bella Mia, from the Buffalo Animal Shelter. Bella Mia had severe dental disease but Marilyn had that taken care of and now Bella Mia and her big brother Kody Bear are enjoying the good life together being spoiled and loved by Marilyn and her family.  Everyone who knows Marilyn wishes they were her pet!

Marilyn and Kody Bear are volunteers in the SPCA’S Paws for Love Program and Marilyn has also completed Pet Tech training and is Pet Saver certified in Pet CPR and First Aid.

Marilyn has been part of Laura’s Critter Care team since 2013 and now is enjoying her dream job!  Marilyn currently resides in Getzville with her husband and has two sons.

Eileene’s attention both before I left and while I was gone showed me how much she loves taking care of these animals!  She texted me daily and provided pictures showing me that Chessie was doing fine in my absence! “I was very unsure at first of giving the keys to my home to someone I didn’t know but after meeting Maura and Alana and seeing how they cared about the puppies well being and how they truly enjoyed their job, it made it very easy to not only trust them being in my home but also to leave the care of Leo and Luke in their hands on a daily basis. I always know they will show up which gives me great peace of mind in leaving Luke and Leo in the morning to go to work. I also know that the puppies really enjoy seeing them.  I really like the pictures that they send me. I enjoy seeing the puppies during the day while I am at work – the pictures make me smile. I also appreciated the extra input they provided with their expertise such as feeding, etc.  they are very dependable, walk the dogs and inform me of how the puppies did that day along with sending me a text and picture.  I’m just really glad that I found your services and was provided 2 wonderful pet sitters.” ~Doris Ferguson, Tax Manager at Kiristis & Associates, CPAS, PLLC

Since Carrie was little she always loved animals – real, stuffed or imaginary –made no difference to her. She would sit with her grandfather by the hour and learn everything he could teach her, as he’d had a farm once upon a time and a vast array of pets. Nature shows were always a big hit in her home.

She had always thought she wanted to be a veterinarian but she was wrong. After two years of interning with a local veterinarian she knew she could never do the job. Not because she wasn’t smart enough, but because she was too sensitive. Carrie learned an incredible amount during those two years, that she has put to use in her pet sitting.

Carrie is so glad she was inspired to start her own business, Kelsey’s Sit and Stay because she has made so many friends both furry and not. She has yet to meet a dog who doesn’t like her, and once she knows what cats are really thinking she will know if it’s me or just my furry coat that they like.

Carrie is excited to also add additional jobs to her schedule through Laura’s Critter Care and looks forward to meeting you.

“Absolutely amazing! I loved the daily updates and cute pictures. It gave me so much peace of mind. The Onyx birthday cupcake was so thoughtful! Kristin was extremely nice and professional. Onyx LOVED her!  I literally cannot think of a single thing you could have improved upon.” ~Anastasiya Sokolova, R&D Technician at Greatbatch

Sami is very conscientious and also kind and loving with the dogs. She is intelligent and organized in her approach to the job. I like the pet portal for scheduling and for payment and conversations. It is more professional and also accountable. A previous pet sitter from another service would jot notes down on his hand and often did not come when he was supposed to. He also did not let me know that he had actually come to my house, so I was always wondering and concerned. I really like the pictures and the text message when the visit is done. I have a trip coming up when my pets will be alone all day, and the messages will help allay my concerns about their welfare. ~Susan Hakala

This was the first time that we used Laura’s Critter Care. We had used a pet sitter previously, but that was years ago and not with these dogs. We were thrilled with the text updates and photos by Alyce and Cindy. It really gave us peace of mind during our trip. The dogs were so much happier when we got home than when we take them to a kennel. From our first meeting with the sitters to when we got home, everything was handled professionally and, most importantly, with love for the dogs. ~Judy Wilfrom

Amber Kallen-Monroe, A.M./P.M. and Mid Day Dog Walker

Amber first came to Laura’s Critter Care as a pet sitting client many years ago. It wasn’t until she scheduled a family vacation that she realized how hard it could be to find a well-qualified pet sitter. Luckily, Laura’s Critter Care came to the rescue with a pet sitter who could care for a dog, 2 cats that needed medication, and 2 guinea pigs. The vacation and the pet sitting went off without a hitch. Fast-forward to today and Amber is excited to be a part of the Laura’s Critter Care Team as a pet sitter and a dog walker.

Amber has her Bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY Brockport. After college, Amber worked as a photographer until she had her first child, Avery. For seventeen years she was a stay-at-home mother to Avery, Liam and every pet they brought home. Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, a rat, a mouse, fish, frogs, tadpoles, and snails, Amber was happily a mom to them all.

Amber will care for your pets like they are her own. Let yourself relax and enjoy your vacation knowing that Amber is caring for your pets just the way you would if you were home. Or if you need a dog walker, rest assured your pup is having an exhilarating walk while you work! Amber is especially fond of pets with special needs and senior pets. She has experience in caring for them, specifically giving pills, liquid medications, subcutaneous fluids, eye drops, and wound care. Don’t let your pet’s medical needs keep you home. Amber is ready to help you.

Julie Camilleri, P.M. and Weekend Sitter

Julie is beyond excited to be joining the Laura’s Critters Care “crew”. She is a huge animal lover and has been around all sorts of animals throughout her life. From dogs, cats, hamsters, horses, fish, rabbits…she enjoys them all.

Her first dog was a Belgian Shepherd named Heidi. She was a Malinois with the cutest black masked face and ears and a beautiful pure white chest. Heidi was her dog until she was about 8 years old. After the loss of Heidi, Julie begged and begged for another dog but didn’t get one. A couple years passed and her mom and brother come home one day with a domesticated shorthaired tortoiseshell kitten. She was crazy, wild and just a maniac as a kitten. She caused constant chaos all around the house. She was a troublemaker by nature but so darn cute! They appropriately named her Calamity. Another couple years past and her mom came home with this tiny all black Cocker Spaniel. This dog was truly her mom’s angel….her mom got ill and our dog never left her side. Julie truly believes their dog helped her mom to heal and become stronger each day.

As an adult, Julie has had an all-black Pekingese, a rescued greyhound and then a beautiful Golden Doodle. All three dogs made an ever lasting impressions on her heart and she misses them every day.

Julie is a single mom to a 15-year-old son who takes after his mom, he LOVES all animals. Currently, she is a pet mom and her son is a pet brother to the most amazing cat in the world, Leo (okay, she may be a bit biased J). Julie was driving home one day and something in her heart just told her to stop in this pet store. Inside was a litter of kittens that had been dropped off by an owner of a barn. She asked this young girl working there, if she could take any one of kittens’ home, which one would she take? She immediately grabbed this adorable male black kitten with the brightest white whiskers, a white-stripped tummy and white boots on his paws. Julie was in love the moment she held him. Leo is the type of cat where his personality speaks volumes. She and her son truly believe he thinks that he is the boss of the house and they are there to serve him! Leo loves people and other animals (for the most part), never hides, never hissed and he never bites or claws anyone, even while playing. He actually reminds her more of a dog than a cat. Like the cocker spaniel for her mom, Leo has been there through some rough times in her life. Pets are magical, they give us so much love and joy and having a pet is having adding another member to your family.

Over the years, friends and family always come to Julie first about watching their pets. She has been a pet sitter for many dogs, a diabetic cat (that she needed to give insulin shots to daily), a chinchilla and fish. Her family and friends know that she will love them and care for their pets as if they were her own. Spending time with other people’s pets is the most amazing job opportunity Julie feels she has ever had. As a pet mom, she knows it’s difficult to find and entrust a stranger with your pet/s. She wants all of her potential clients to feel at ease that she will provide their pet/s with the most heartfelt, caring and loving professionalism and the utmost respect for your home. Every pet has their own unique personality and they all deserve my undivided attention while in her care. Julie is dependable, responsible and personable. She was raised to treat people and animals with sincerity and care. She possess a good moral character and has a lot of patience, which she attributes most to being a mother and being a high school teacher for the past 16 years. She truly looks forward to being your potential pet-sitter or dog walker.
