The Management Team
Laura Bailey, Owner
Hi I’m Laura! I own and operate Laura’s Critter Care, LLC based in Amherst, New York. Thank you for visiting my site. I understand that your home and pets are your most valuable possessions. I am a dedicated animal lover, life-long pet owner and an experienced animal care provider. I started sitting for pets while in High School and College to earn extra money.
I spent 20 years in the corporate world as a Regional Manager and Executive Recruiter in the employment services industry. I oversaw sales and operations for up to 6 different locations, managing anywhere from 10-50 internal employees as well as upwards of 400-1,000 temporary employees at any given time. I also recruited and placed executives within some of the countries top companies. I decided to follow my dreams and work with animals. So I retired from the corporate world and started Laura’s Critter Care, LLC in 2009.
I care for all types of pets, not just dogs and cats. Some of my clients have included goats, birds, salt and fresh water fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, rabbits, reptiles, other small animals, and poultry. No matter what type of pet you have, I can sit for you!
I reside in Amherst (Getzville) and also share my home on 3 acres with my husband Keith, 2 cats, 2 dogs (1 pug and a Boxer/Ridgeback mix), 5 birds (Lineolated Parakeet, a Congo African Grey Parrot, a Timneh African Grey Parrot, a Blue Fronted Amazon and a Green Cheek Conure) and a Koi pond full of Koi, different varieties of Gold Fish and Shubunkin. I also have 2 grand pups (a lab mix and a beagle mix), 5 grand kitties and a grand rabbit. I have previously owned other breeds of dogs, birds, fish, reptiles, rabbits and rodents. Most of my pets have been rescued. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren, driving my 1966 Red Ford Mustang Coupe 289 V8 and gardening.
I am a member of Pet Sitters International. PSI provides valuable resources for the professional pet sitter, as well as continuing education opportunities. I am also college educated and have attended classes on dog training, pet care and animal health through Medaille College and UB’s Mini Vet School and I am PetSaver certified through PetTech. I am a Certified Professional Pet Sitter.
Over the years I have also been very involved in rescue and placement of pets into their forever homes. I financially help and support many local rescues in the area.

Marilyn W.
Marilyn loves your fur kids! She has been with Laura since retiring from her office job back in 2013 and has never looked back! “This is the absolute best job in the world, I love it!”
Marilyn is the youngest of four (all girls) and even though her sisters tried getting their mom to allow a pet in their house, Marilyn was the only one that actually changed her Mom’s mind. She was a little devious at the age of 12, sneaking a kitten into the house using her allowance to buy kitty food, litter and all the supplies she needed. Her parents were going to a wedding that day and by the time her mom discovered the kitten, she had to let it stay the night. When her parents came home and saw the kitten all huddled in its bed they actually fell in love! Cuddles became a part of the family.
Her passion for animals definitely shows when she takes care of your pets. She has owned 3 cats, 2 turtles and 4 dogs. She is “grandma” to 3 cats and 2 dogs and currently is mommy to her two Pomeranians, Kody Bear and her third rescue, Bella Mia. Her dogs never want for anything and everyone who knows her compliments her on her care and love for them.
Everyone who knows Marilyn wishes they were her pet!
One of her very favorite things to do is helping people find their perfect furry friend. She stays in touch with many rescue groups and has helped several find their furever homes.
Marilyn has also completed Pet Tech training and is Pet Saver certified in Pet CPR and First Aid.
Marilyn currently resides in Getzville with her husband and Pomeranians. They have two grown sons and in 2022 became first time grandparents to their beautiful granddaughter, Elle Madelynn.

Carrie H.
Since Carrie was little she always loved animals, real, stuffed or imaginary, made no difference to her. She would sit with her grandfather by the hour and learn everything he could teach her, as he’d had a farm once upon a time and a vast array of pets. Nature shows were always a big hit in her home.
She had always thought she wanted to be a veterinarian but she was wrong. After two years of interning with a local veterinarian she knew she could never do the job. Not because she wasn’t smart enough, but because she was too sensitive. Carrie learned an incredible amount during those two years, that she has put to use in her pet sitting.
Carrie is so glad she was inspired to start her own business because she has made so many friends both furry and not. She has yet to meet a dog who doesn’t like her, and once she knows what cats are really thinking she will know if it’s me or just my furry coat that they like.
Carrie joined Laura’s Critter Care in 2016 and is excited to also add additional jobs to her schedule through Laura’s Critter Care and looks forward to meeting you.
